African Puff Adder

African Puff Adder (Bitis arietans) - a massive snake spread Africa-wide. One of the "Big Four" of the African adders it is the most common member. With a good reason. It holds world record in the number of young during birth, as it happend to a 6ft. female in the Czech Republic that delivered a litter of a whopping 158! A few years later another female, also in the Czech, brought 147 to the world. Other snake species may have a large number of young as well but none makes even a half of the record.
