The mouth of an Alligator Snapping turtle (Macroclemys temmincki) doubles as a baited fish trap, luring fish with a worm-like appendix on the tongue. This is a juvenile under 2 years of age of the world's heaviest freshwater turtle. In adulthood they frequently exceed 200 lbs in weight and are totally aquatic. They only leave water to lay eggs - but that's an excuse only the females have.
